Just for fun…
Microphone is always the constant companion for a demo warrior. When you are on stage, everything can and will go wrong. Lapel (collar) microphone did not work. Hand-held microphone was available, but no stand available to hold it. I cannot hold it in my hand, because I am always showing lots of demos. I need both my hands for handling the keyboard, mouse, stylus and touch!
Here is the solution. It works
The mug (or similar object) should be heavy enough. Otherwise it topples with the weight of the microphone. Secondly, the mic comes in the way of you handling the keyboard. It requires few minutes to get used to it. Finally, it is good to put some paper or some other padding around the mic so that it does not move (not shown in the photo). I have got used to all these things now. So it is my standard operating procedure whenever a hand-held mic is handed over to me.
The show must go on.
Now it does give you WOW, Love and other things in the regular LIKE button, but not a Dislike (Thumbs Down) button. But in the chat window, Facebook does give you a genuine Thumbs Down button. How to get it?
In FB chat window, click on emoticons button.
Now you will see the emoticons which are available to you by default. Go to the FB emoticons which are called “Likes”. This has many related icons, including “Dislike”. That’s it.

Today is an Indian festival called Dussehra which marks the beginning of harvesting season. It is customary to exchange leaves of the Piliostigma racemosum tree as a symbol of gold – wishing each other a prosperous new year.
Well, I cannot exchange leaves with all of you – but let me use this blog to wish all of you a great year ahead.
I created this graphic using the “gold” leaf image. Download this PPT file to understand how it was created using PowerPoint. Refer to the slide notes for details.
Well, where did this come from? I watch a lot of movies on the laptop. VLC player has a snapshot option. I capture memorable shots while watching the movie.
Just watched Memoirs of a Geisha. Amazing movie. I was wondering what to do with these images. And then I thought of using them to create a super fast movie summary based upon still images. Have a look… Ideally Download the video (10 MB)and watch locally for best impact.
Steps: Capture pictures. Insert all pictures as a Photo Album in PowerPoint. Set default slide advance time to 0.1 second for all slides. For key slides set it to 0.8 second. Save. Export as Video. Enjoy. (Hope I am not violating any copyrights).
Have a look. Take the mouse cursor to the Like icon in Facebook chat window, press the left button but don’t release it immediately – keep it pressed – and see what happens. It works with extended touch also on FB Messenger app.
